EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL CAREER
Dr. Sebastian Klaus studied law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen. He subsequently completed his legal clerkship in Göttingen and in Hanover. He accomplished his doctoral studies at the Georg-August University of Göttingen at the Institute for Public Law under Professor Dr. Christine Langenfeld.
From 2009 to 2012, he worked as a research assistant at her chair before joining Fragomen Global LLP as a lawyer and later as a manager. In 2014, he joined to KPMG Law Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, where he was most recently a senior manager responsible for the content of advice on German residence law. Since January 2021, Dr. Klaus has been working for BLUEDEX – Labour Law.
Dr. Klaus speaks German and English.
COMPETENCIES AND AREAS OF ACTIVITY
Dr. Sebastian Klaus is expertised in residence and employment law advice to international corporations, medium-sized businesses and the public sector. In particular, he specializes in advising on German immigration law, the European legal framework for labor migration and short stays (“business trips”) as well as related labor law issues. Furthermore, he advises on questions of citizenship law that may arise for employees posted abroad (expats) or to Germany (impats).
Dr. Klaus is a speaker at numerous events on German immigration law, particularly in the context of the changes brought about by the Skilled Workers Immigration Act, effective March 1, 2020.
PUBLICATIONS / LECTURES
Dr. Klaus publishes various specialist articles, which includes contributing to several legal commentaries as an author on general immigration and, particularly, labor related immigration law. He is also the editor of a forthcoming commentary on the Residence Ordinance (AufenthV).
